Cane's Lunch

We have Canes donate 3 piece chicken tender meals for all of our kids that have increased on their ACCESS composite score. For those that passed, we bring their Canes meals to Beaumont for them, let them eat together in our class for lunch and enjoy time together!

After ACCESS

We had a party after the test. My BAC helped me with the money request and I made hot chocolate and "arepas" with cheese for the kids.

Trip to Malibu Jack's

We give all the kids pizza and have a trip to Malibu Jack's for those kiddos that grew.

Eggfest

We have an "Easter Egg" hunt for those that grow on ACCESS. We hide eggs around the football and lacrosse fields. We make it a contest for the students, and the team with the most eggs get a big prize. They also have the whole day outside playing soccer, and they love the time with their friends!

Students who grow by .5, 1, and/or students who test out get exemptions that build on each other. They can potentially get 3 exemptions.

Test Exemptions or Drop Low Test Grades

Any student grade 9-12 who is designated as EL (English Learner) who achieves an ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 composite score of 4.5 or higher earns two final exam exemptions OR two dropped lowest exam grades to be used in the semester in which the results are reported.

Motivational Conference

We have a half-day "conference" before testing starts where students hear from community members (Marafiki Center, La Casa de la Cultura, etc.) to talk through the importance of being multi-lingual and multi-literate and why ACCESS gives them an opportunity to show up and show out.

Movie Day
