Sunny, the main character, is chosen to run in a track meet with his team. He is almost finished with the run, about to win the race, when he, out of nowhere, stops. The crown greatly increases in noise level. It was a mix of both "Booing" and "Whoop-whooping". Sunny officially tells himself that he is going to commit to dancing, and not running. Once he is in the car, with his dad, who prefers his son to call him "Darryl", neither him nor his dad says a word. When they arrive home, both Darryl and Sunny still don't speak. Sunny's coaches and even friends support sunny with his decision and help him out by not letting him run in track, and instead let him throw the discus. Eventually, after a lot of fighting and arguing, they both discover that having no mom for Sunny and no wife for Darryl, is not easy and that they should build up a strong relationship with each other. They become best buddies and start to depend on each other more.

The shared breakfast with Sunny and Darryl represents the start of their true relationship. this is because they never share a meal like a family or even talk to each other during their quality time. this is also important because, since the mom passed, they never really worried about spending time together.

Sunny is against the world when he is expected to run and win the race. He decides to stop running and change his whole future to dancing, instead of running, when it was least expected. Although it was a risky move, he persevered. And lucky for him, he did not suffer any consequences.

Sunny learned that it is always okay to express yourself. He learned this by second guessing his choices, at first, but when he saw that everyone around him was willing to help, he became more confident.

Sunny experiences external conflict when he wants to determine his future by quitting the thing that he thought he loved, track. He wants to confide into dancing. His dad is against this because Sunny runs for his mom while being very good at it.

Sunny experiences internal conflict when he is mad at himself. this is when he starts having a fear of failure. he is scared that he will fail especially when he makes a very strong decision, which let his whole track team down. Although it might have not been the best decision, he felt strong and had a supportive team.

Sunny learned that it is always okay to give people a second chance. this happens when he is in a constant fight with his dad but when his dad tries to make it up with him, he gives his dad a second chance and it all works out in the end
