  • Teen idols were portrayed as good boyfriends, well groomed, attractive, and sensitive. Because of this, record companies figured anyone could be a teen idol as long as they had songs written by pros, music played by experienced musicians, and a young man who fit the “good boy” look and could carry a tune. And that's what they often did.
