The aero dynamics of the bridge were poorly supported so, in effect the bridge collapsed. Another reason could also have to do with the support of the bridge. The 10 most famous bridges were more sturdy and allowed wind to pass though with out collapsing, but the 10 worst bridges had all collapsed not being able to take on wind and not being built right. The most famous bridges were built with nice steel or metal and if they were made of another material there were poles closer together to hold the weight of the bridge. The worst bridges were built with not too much structure of other materials.          <description><![CDATA[<p>The Tacoma Narrows bridge collapsed because the bridge couldn't withstand the harsh wind. Because of this harsh wind it caused the bridge to twist. If you've seen the video the bridge isn't oscillating vertically, but in a twisting or torsional motion. Eventually it got so bad it collapsed after only four months of opening. If the workers of this bridge put a slot in the middle of the bridge it wouldn't have vibrated or twisted so much. It also would have been easy to make the deck more aerodynamic.</p>]]></description>
