- a pacific march were organised , i was with them , a police line bloc the march and the police stardings shooting us with machine guns and after we reposted.The first to fall was a 13 years old boy.
-but what was the cause of the riot exactly?
-The whites wanted us to force us to learn their language the afrikaner. we refused to learn it and went on a strike.

- yes no problem  it will be my pleasure, in the 70's, a lot of student in south africa have demonstrated for the equality of the black and white people

- yes. On June 16, 1976 20 000 schoolchildren in Soweto, joined in a march to protest mandatory school use of Afrikaans, the language of the Afrikaner whites who are descended from the original Dutch settlers; the nation's other offical language is English

-soweto uprising is a demonstration to learn our own language and not dutch language (Afrikaans). In generally, only students demonstrated.
-and you ? demonstrated you?
-yes, I was 19 years old and i studied in a University.
- And what did you do?
- We walked in the street and suddently, policemen shot on us.
-Really? next, what happened?
- Many of my friends died, and childrens, students. In total, either 59 or hundreds were killed the 16, June 1976.
- Oh! it's horrible
-Yes, but that was an important day for me, because black's rights were very important for us , for apartheid. 
-But other countries didn't react?
-Not specially, but they saw the massacre, because a photograph took a picture, and published that all other the world.

Grandma : Yes, yes I was there... I was 12. It was in June 16, 1976.What do you want to know exactly ?
Grand daughter : I wan't to know how was it ? 
Grandma :  It was a peaceful demonstration.
Grand daughter : Against what ?
Grandma : To the real African langage was  taught and not the Afrikaner. We did that demonstration and protested by not going to school.
Grand daughter ; You talked about a "peaceful demonstration " ? 
Grandma : Yes... It was, before the policemen came. When they came, they strated to hit us. And they we had to throw stones to protect ourselves.
