Humans alter the water cycle in Madison WI by constructing dams through water withdrawals. Climate change is expected to additionally affect water supply and demand. Terrestrial water fluxes are affected by both climate change and direct human interventions like dam operations. We can help control the water pollution by installing mitigation tools on farms and plant plants by streams and rivers

Blooms of the blue and green algae have not killed anyone so far but they do cause rashes, vomiting, and trouble breathing. It affects many people who use the lakes for boating or other water activities but it also can affect your pets too. As the algae starts to die it can cause mass deficits of oxygen cause many aquatic life to die and suffer. it especially affects the ecosystem when there is a drought because there´s less water in the lake meaning less oxygen overall. People of higher income are more likely to be affected because they have boats and are usually out on the lake more then people with lower income.

The Lake Champlain Land Trust is playing an essential role in helping reduce blue green algae by reducing phosphorus and nitrogen levels. The wetlands, fields, forests, and shoreline that we conserve act as important filters for nutrients and sediments. A solution i came up with is adding a dam in the most toxic areas of the lakes to filter all the bad stuff out of the water and pump good things into said water
