Dear all,
In Week 5, we have been introduced to the knowledge on page design, the do's and the don't's and how to make a page readable and pleasing to the eye.

To test your understanding, you are required to find a story page in a local newspaper of 2017. Similar to the previous task, select one page that has more than one story. Take a picture and share on padlet what do you think about the page design. Is it good or bad? What would you suggest to make it more attractive?

The deadline is next Tuesday 17 October 2017.

Firstly, I want to give my opinion about news and style of page design.
For me, the story is quiet intersting and look simple. However, the story is to long and crowded. For the picture, I think it is not suitable with the story about.
In short, the story and style of the design not good enough and quite boring.

First of all, the page design has used tabloid grid style which consists of five column format. It has three stories with a big photo and a mugshot photo.

The design is look so good because it has so many stories on it and it used a modular page design as discrete rectangular units that make the readers feel easier to read the stories.

Nevertheless, I think the page design is little bad because the first story does not have a photo and it make the readers quite bored to read the story.

In conclude, for the first story, I suggest that it must have at least a mugshot or a liftout quote to attract the readers to read the story. Thank you.

I have choose tabloid newspaper which is Kosmo! . In my opinion this page design is good. It is because in this page design consist 6 columns tabloid grids. The graphic designer portrayed this page as a page without art because this page design used the butting headlines which is consist different styles of headlines, fonts or sizes. Next, this page design used the modules design the rectangular units of stories. Overall, I think this page design is quite simple and easy for readers to understand the story. It is because the stories are arranged neatly.

Based on the page that i choose, this newspaper are followed the rule in print media cause they have grid, modular art and so on.
For this newspaper, they have 11 grid and 4 modular and they arrange the news by using rectangle units. However,they also put the image in square shape because the accurate shape rectangle. This newspaper also make readers easier to read because they arrange the news by using tabloid grid. The news was arrange by using horizontal and vertical.
To conclude, this newspaper was good because the arrange the news very neatly and make it easier for audience to read. That's all. Thank you.

In my opinion, based on this newspaper, this is a weak page design because the news not has modular because the shape for modular not rectangular .Furthermore, this news has 2 pictures, one big picture and one other small picture and the picture overlap. The page design are in tabloid grid which is contain 4-column that can be more hard for the reader to read the news. The tabloid grid also not make the reader interest to read the story. This news has mug short. Other than that, this design in horizontal line. . I think that the news is good because it more interesting but in the page design is weak because not has modular because the shape not rectangular. That all, thank you.

I have choose tabloid newspaper which is a Metro. In my opinion this page design is attractive. It use tabloid grid design with six grid in it. It using a page art with great picture. it keep all story shapes rectangular and vary the shapes and size. it also have 5 modular in its page design. Modular design is the idea of treating stories as modules. So, i think this newspaper's design is very interesting and can attract more readers.

Firstly, I want to give my opinion about this style of page design. This story is a bit interesting. It used slammer headline which is bold on the main point. From the bad side, the arrangement of photo usage are not attracting and interesting because the position of the mugshot has merge with a dominant photo. From arrangement of the story they used a modular design which is discrete with a rectangular units. So, this is can make the reader feel more attracting to read.

The conclusion, that I can make is I can give suggestion the page design have to put more photos in every story because the story quite bored if there is no photos there.

I had choose NewStraitsTimes, wednesday, 4 october 2017. In my opinion, this newspaper has a good page design. The page design is tabloid grid which is contain 5-column grid format. There are 6 stories in this newspaper. Besides, there are 6 modular page design which are using rectangular and horizontal units of stories. Furthermore, there are 4 stories which are using page without art in this newspaper. Then, in this newspaper used the butting headlines which is consist difference styles, sizes and fonts of headlines. For me, this story design and page design are quite interesting and suitable because the audience can understand the content clearly and also can attract the readers to read it.

based on the newspaper that i choose for this task is tabloid newspaper NEWS STRAITS TIMES that popular in malaysia. it has an interesting page design consists an interesting page design.The layout of the newspaper that designer put is 3 modular design for 3 stories.beside that, the stories are rectangular shape and emphasize of story layout is fitting to this newspaper. there also put a quote and dominant photo to attract reader. in conclusion, the designer is successfully design the newspaper perfectly

I would choose Berita Harian newspaper because the page designs satisfied for me. This newspaper here a vertical and horizontal grid. The page designs show a tabloid which is have a five column. Beside that, this used a modular designs which is a rectangular units. In conclusion, I think this newspaper have a complete the format.

Based on the newspaper of kosmo that i choose, my view of page design is more clear and also interesting to read. Also nice and simpe. it use the tabloid system .It use 5 column grid.And i think they use page with art because keep all story shape rectangular , emphasizes what is important and give each story dominant photo.Modular page design is 3 .Overall < the page design is good and perfect . Then , the tabloid newspaper is more interesting than broadsheet newspaper.

Based on the newspaper of Berita Harian that I choose because it has two element placed side by side, also called a Tombstone when it refers to headlines. Berita harian is types of Tabloid grid its has 5 column. it avoid the jumpheads in the news. I think Berita Harian used the simple and it don't be used the crowded placed to put the many headlines. They used modular page design rearrange the modules the rectangular units of story.

I rather choose tabloid newspaper than a broadsheet newspaper. So I pick Sinar Harian as my newspapers. It is because the tabloid roughly half the size of broadsheet. In my newspaper, it is use a 5-column format. In advance, the advantages of tabloid format is more easier to produce and cheaper to print, ads can dominate a tabloid more effectively than in broadsheet. The goods that i found in my newspaper is they keep all story shapes rectangular. Story placement, in order they arranged the strongest at the top. Other than that, they used headline sizing (refer the newspaper) the lead story they put the biggest headline and then goes smaller as you move down the pages. The content of story also quite interesting. They use a bold headline to attract the readers and they also use the quotes to vary the style of newspaper.

In my opinion,based on the news paper I have chosen, the page design is well designed since it is designed in a horizontal grid. It is in tabloid grid since it consist 5 columns that is easier to print and popular to readers. Besides that , the picture is well fitted in the page design in a modular as well as the headline. In addition , it also add the infographic which is related and well put in a rectangular shaped and it is related to the story which explains a bit about the story.

I have chosen a page design in Harian Metro as it is interesting. From my opinion, this page it is in tabloid grid with 6 column in it. I had choose this newspaper because this page is very interesting and attractive. In my opinion, the page design used tabloid grid which is contain 6 grid but some paper use 7,8 or even 9 column grids. There are 3 stories in this page which is the readers can read different stories in the same pages. Besides that, the page have dominant phoyos that shows the main stories so the readers can know which is the main news. There are 4 modular page design which is using rectangular unit. This newspaper also used the butting headline which is consist difference styles of headlines, fonts or sizes. In conclusion, this newspapers very interesting and attractive but the designer can add some info graphic as prayer time or index.

In my opinion about page design it have been used tabloid grid.The idea of treating stories as a modules that was discrete rectangular units. So we can see at this news, it just rectangular units with a same grids. This tabloid grid is popular because it was cheaper and easier for readers to read this news. This news is roughly half the size of broadsheet.The page design also consist 5 columns and there are 4 different stories. Besides that, a grid was made up of vertical and horizontal lines and is the foundation of nearly every type of visual media. In this page stories also using a buffing headline which have a mix styles, fonts and sizes to make them dissimilar. In addition, it have a one art to focus in this page - maybe it was an important or interesting photo or news to attract readers.The quotes in this page also bold to mention this story is important. IN my opinion about page design it used is tabloid . Tabloid is roughly half the size of broadsheet. This news is A 5-column format is most common in tabloid. Tabloid is popular for readers because it easier to produce and cheaper to print and ads can dominate a tabloid page more effectively than in broadsheet. This news also pages without art ,pages without art is the strongest story at the top. Headline sizing that have in this story is ,the lead story have the biggest headline , headline then goes smaller as you move down the page. This news shaped like rectangles and this news clean but weak design. This news is modular design. Modular design is the idea of treating stories as modules and rectangular units . In conclusion, I think the pages design is not interesting and cannot attract the readers to read this newspaper.
