The story is about a guy name Kabuliwala that has a very strong friendship with a little girl Minnie.

The theme of the story is ... in friendship or choosing friends there is really no specific age and to not judge people base on how the look or what job they have. In a real life situation there is always a person or people who will always judge your life or judge other people base on their looks, job etc. and they don't really see the goodness of their hearts, an example of meeting someone for the first time. We tend to sometimes judge them before actually approaching them.

On the first encounter with Minnie and Kabuliwala, the girl suspected that he was a bad person. As the two became friends, Minnie came to understand that Kabuliwala was the same as everyone else. She understood that Kabuliwala was human. This can be compared to when we first see people who are not like us, we start to suspect them. But when we overcome that suspicion, we will come to understand that they go through struggles as well. Therefore, we must learn to empathize with them and try to make each other's lives easier.

The Kabuliwala is a popular story about a decent person who was mistaken. The Kabuliwala depicts an unusual relationship between a child and a stranger/vendor that blossomed over time. Instead of lying and being set free, tragedy led to the merchant being put on trial and later imprisoned. Later, the vendor was released and paid a visit to the child. The child was finally recognised by the vendor, but he also recognized the mirror of his own child, which he had left behind while detained. Fortunately, generosity pays off, and the child's parents repaid the vendor's kindness by allowing him to see his child again.

The story is all about the friendship of Minnie and Kabuliwala. The story beautifully connects a bond of mutual affection and the unconventional relationship of Minnie and Kabuliwala. Minnie and Kabuliwala began meeting and interacting daily as their friendship grew. Kabuliwala told Minnie stories about his homeland, and the young girl cheerfully returned the warmth with her own innocent tales and playfulness. Kabuliwala listened to the young girl intently and with pleasure. Unfortunately, Kabuliwala got arrested for stabbing a customer after getting involved in a scuffle and he confessed to killing the man even after being advised by his lawyer not to. After being impressed by his honesty, the judge decided to reduce his sentence to ten years in prison. He went to see Minnie after he was released several years later. To his surprise, he can no longer recognize Minnie anymore when he saw her again. She was so guilty of not being with his child during her childhood and she would have been a grown-up lady now like Minnie. Minnie's father offered him enough money to return to Kabul safely and reunite with his own daughter. Minnie's father set aside a portion of the wedding expenses, such as lights, to provide 100 rupees for Kabuliwala. In a way, they could understand another parent's longing for his long-separated daughter.

The main theme of "Kabuliwala" is friendship. The author has depicted the friendship of an Afghan trader and Minnie, a small playful child, in a beautiful way. Despite the fact that Rahamat was almost the same age as Minnie's father, he and Minnie shared a very special friendship. They used to express all of their emotions and even understood each other to a large extent. Aside from their friendship, the relationship between a father and a daughter has been depicted very well. Minnie and her father, as well as Rahamat and his daughter, are two examples of father-daughter relationships mentioned in the story. All of these connections have a profound effect on the reader's mind and heart.
