Terry Pham
World War I: Militarism provided a threat to others but made citizens feel patriotic for fighting for their country. Militarism is the desires of those in the country should have a strong and capable to defend army and/or promote national interests. Imperialism had also occurred, where nations would compete to gather colonies, as rivalry and mistrust built up. Imperialism is the conditions of expanding a country's powers and influence through diplomacy or military force. Alliances were created among certain nations for help from one another, harm caused to an ally leads to the other ally coming to helping, causing a huge chain reaction. Nationalism would be where a nation would be a feeling of superiority over other countries. Within Europe, nationalism was common in countries of Europe, as countries Germany, Austria-Hungary, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, and France seek to overpower others, fight for materials, markets, and territories.

World War II: From militarism, Germany defied the Treaty of Versailles and rebuilt its army, created the "Nazi War Machine," and had the best military in the world. Italy joined forces with Germany. Japan had the best army in Asia, and had a motto, "Death before Dishonor." Based on imperialism, Germany wanted to bring together all people of German ancestry, and to expand the empire. Italy felt betrayed for a broken promise of land for joining the Allies and they wanted control over lands around the Mediterranean Sea. Japan wanted to be the best in Asia by taking most of the oil and raw materials, and wanted all land for raw materials. Due to the many alliances, there was the Axis powers and Allied powers, when one to be hurt from the other power, their allies would come and declare war, while the other side does the same. Based on nationalism, Germany wanted to rebuild itself, wanted revenge against democracies, communism, criminals who signed the WWI Armistice, and Jews. Italy wanted to redevelop the old Holy Roman Empire. Japan wanted to be number 1 in Asia and overpower other Asians.

Alfredo
World War I: By early 1915, opposing armies on the Western Front had dug miles of parallel trenches to protect themselves from enemy fire, this set the stage for what became known as Trench Warfare, n this type of Warfare, soldiers fought each other from trenches
Life in the trenches was pure misery. "The men slept in mud, washed in mud, ate in mud, and dreamed mud", wrote one soldier
The trenches swarmed with rats, fresh food was nonexistent, and sleep was nearly impossible.
The space between the opposing trenches won the grim name "no man's land"
When the officers ordered an attack, their men went over the top of their trenches into this bombed out landscape .
There they usually met murderous rounds of machine gun fire.
Staying put, however, did not ensure one's safety.
The Air was unbreathable, The western front had become a "terrain of death", it stretched nearly 500 miles from the North Sea to the Swiss border.
Military strategist were at a loss.New tools of war, like Machine guns, Poison gas, armored tanks, larger artillery, — had not been delivered the fast moving war they had expected. All this new technology did was kill greater numbers of people more effectively.
Poison Gas: Soldiers wore masks to protect themselves from poison gas. Gas was introduced by Germans but used by both sides. Some gases caused blindness or severe blisters, others death by choking.
Machine Gun: The Machine Gun, which fires ammunition automatically, was much improved by the time of world war I. The gun could wipe out waves of attackers and thus made it difficult for forces to advance.
Tank: The tank was an armored combat vehicle that moved on chain tracks—and thus could cross many types of terrain. It was introduced by the British in 1916 at the battle of the somme.
Submarine: In 1914, the germans introduced the submarine as an effective warship. The submarine’s primary weapon against ships was the torpedo, an underwater missle.
The slaughter reached a peak in 1916. In February, the Germans launched a massive attack against the French near Verdun. Each side lost more than 300,000 men. In July, the British army tried to relieve the pressure on the french, british forces attacked the germans northwest of verdun,in the valley of the Somme River.
In the first day of battle alone more than 20000 british soldiers were killed.
By the time the battle of the somme ended in november, each side had suffered more than half a million casualties

World War II: The German invasion of Poland was the first test of Germany's newest military Strategy--the Blitzkrieg, or "lightning War". It involved using fast-moving airplanes and tanks, follows by massive infantry Forces, to take enemy defenders by surprise and quickly overwhelm them. In the case of poland, the strategy worked.
Maxim Machine Gun (1884) - Hiram Maxim invented the first portable, automatic machine gun. Machine Guns fired hundreds of rounds per minute.
First Military Plane (1909) - the earliest military military planes were used for reconnaissance of enemy position. A passenger could drop bombs and, in later models could operate a machine gun.
Poison Gas (1915) - Poison gas were introduced to help break the stalemate of trench warfare. They caused suffocation, blistered skin or blindness to those exposed.
Tanks(1916) - Tanks, like the early British model shown above, enable armies to travel over uneven ground and barbed wire. Although too slow to be used to full advantage at first they were devastating against soldiers in Trenches.
Blitzkrieg (1939) - The Germans used Blitzkrieg or "lightning war" to invade Poland. The employed air strikes, fast tanks, and artillery, followed by soldiers sped into battle on trucks. They swiftly overwhelmed Poland and disputed its command and communications.
German Me 262 (1944) - Military jet planes were first used by the germans in 1944. These planes added speed to fire power. The Me 262 was the only jet to be used extensively in WWII.
Atomic Bomb (1945) - The united states dropped two Atomic Bombs on Japan and became the first nation to use nuclear weapons. An Atomic Bomb creates an explosion that causes massive damage. The radioactive particles released are carried by winds for weeks.
life in the Trenches: https://youtu.be/_G4ZY66BG38
Blitzkrieg Warfare: https://youtu.be/H4krV180eRQ

Jose Peralta
World War 1: The 4 Allied Powers who attended the peace treaty were U.S, France, Italy, and Great Britain, Russia didn't go since they had their civil war. The Versailles treaty was negotiated with only the Allied powers, not a single defeated nation was able to go. France wanted revenge, and to punish the Germans for what they had done, wanted to make Germany pay for the damage done during the war, and weaken Germany so France couldn't be invaded again. Britain wanted justice, but did not want revenge. America wanted to share 14 ideas to the signing and out of the 14 only one was used. Several new countries were created from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Germany and also the Ottoman empire. Many Germans remembered the humiliation that the Allies had put upon them. This allowed Hitler to convince the German people that there was a need for more war starting WWII

WWll : The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is made up of 193 Member States. The work of the United Nations is guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. The Treaty of Versailles was the peace forced on Germany. It was extremely harsh and was one of the main reasons for the rise of Adolf Hitler. The League of Nations was set up after WWI in 1920 to be an organization that would supervise the peace the world and allow nations to discuss issues rather than resort to war. It was a forerunner of the United Nations.

Allen Miramontes
World War I: Both sides in World War I paid a tremendous price in terms of human life. About 8.5 million died as a result of the war. Another 21 million were wounded. In addition, the war led to the death of countless civilians by way of disease. A whole generation of Europeans were wiped out because of disease.
What had caused this tremendous suffering was starvation, disease, and slaughter.
World War II: World War II killed more people, involved more nations, and cost more money than any other war in history. At least 19 million soviet civilian, 10 million chinese, and 6 million european jews lost their lives during the war. What had caused tremendous suffering during this devastating time was Famine, disease, and the decline of the economy.
Both Wars: During World War 1 the Armenian Genocide took place and the holocaust took place during the 2nd World war even though they took place during different times but were both very similar. Both the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust targeted and tried to eliminate a certain type of people. Both of these Genocides decided to eliminate the people based on the religion they believed in.

The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand lead to war because of many secret alliances between countries, so if one country attacked another, other countries would get involved because of alliances, an example would be Russia declaring war on Austria because of alliances with Serbia.
Germany's invasion of Poland lead to war because of alliances again, but between Poland, France, and Great Britain. German Blitzkrieg used fast-moving planes and tanks to surprise defenses and quickly overwhelm them.
Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor lead to war because the Japanese had killed 2,300 Americans, injured 1,100, and sunk 19 ships including 8 battleships,. the U.S. declared it "a day that will live in infamy" and quickly declared war on Japan and its Allies.
