This quote seems particularly applicable to today's world of social media and politics. It is essential to question and critique who is telling you the "truth" or what's a "lie". As we can see in The Scarlet Letter, the narrator (or anyone telling a story) has biases that sneak into the story. Is our narrator really telling us the "truth"?

I read this quote and interpret it as it doesn’t matter what people think or what is accepted in society, it matters what the truth is. Sometimes we don’t accept the truth and sometimes our beliefs are swayed by misinformation but the truth is the truth.

I really like this qoute and agree with it fully. I think a lot of times in my personal life I will tell someone something happening and no matter how much I try to explain it, they still think I am lying. For example, if I say "I really love your outfit, blue is totally your color!" They will start hating on themselves and saying I am lying because they look horrible in blue. There are so many more examples of this, but that is one that came to mind. I also think a lot of people can lie really well and nobody will know they're lying. I am a horrible liar and people can always tell when I am not telling the truth.

I really enjoy this quote as it speaks to the importance of telling the truth. Even though people's opinions can be very loud and overcome others, causing it to seem like they are right, it does not matter because if it is the truth, then it is still the truth no matter what others say. However, if it is a lie, then it will still be a lie no matter what support it gains from others. I think it is even more important because of this to be veritable because people will find out nonetheless if you are lying.

I agree with this quote because of how relevant it is to us today in a world dominated by rumors and social media. It does not matter what people believe or see in you, as long as you are content with the truth that you have accepted. You should not surround yourself in people who never believe you, as you will waste precious time trying to defend yourself against people who will never have faith in you to begin with.

Manipulation can impact peoples view on reality. If a lie is propagated enough it can be seen as truth by the majority, regardless of its verity or potentially dangerous narrative. This in turn makes the truth the minority, and thereby not taken seriously. This seems relevant with the current times where a lot of information spread online is taken at face value, regardless of its truth.

I fully agree with this quote. This makes me think of religion and how nobody knows if there is a God/which religion is closest to the truth, yet there are still a multitude of religious persons who fully believe in their religion and devote their life to these beliefs. Even if a large group believes in a religion, it could still be a lie, and even if nobody believes in a religion, it could be the truth. I admire religious persons and their devotion to their religion, even with a lack of proof or very little proof of its existence.

People can share a common misbelief and it be wrong while the truth stays uncovered. However, as that misinformation spreads it becomes a common understanding and can eventually be recognized as the truth. People, specifically older or less educated people don't tend to fact-check the information that they see on the news or social media. That misconception doesn't matter though, what matters is the truth, so as long as the truth can become as equally shared it will eventually be believed.

I think this quote is great. It speaks to the reality of gossip I think the most. Although lies may spread and cause everyone to believe them, the truth still remains and often prevails. I like what the quote is trying to convey and express, and think it's true!

While this quote is true, a truth that no one believes will still be taken as a lie. To speak a truth that no one believes has the same effect as an obvious lie. A lie that everyone believes has the same effect as a clear truth. A truth or lie has no value unless it is believed. You could give your friend the secrets to the universe, but it will not be of any value if they do not believe it.
