The attack on Pearl Harbor began on the morning of December 7, 1941. A Japanese strike force consisting of six aircraft carriers launched a surprise aerial assault on the United States Pacific Fleet stationed at Pearl Harbor. The attack was located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. This attack was precisely planned by the Japanese Navy. The Japanese aircraft carried out coordinated bombing raids targeting battleships, cruisers, destroyers, airfields, and other military installations around Pearl Harbor. This assault caught the American forces off guard. They did not see this coming. The attack lasted approximately two hours, and by the time the attack ended, more than 2,400 Americans were killed, and over 1,100 were wounded. Additionally, numerous ships were damaged or sunk, including battleships like the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma.

The attack on Pearl Harbor prompted the U.S. to enter World War II. Following the attack, the United States quickly mobilized its military and industrial resources to support the war effort. Before the attack Japan was conquering a lot of land but when the U.S. entered they stopped Japanese expansion. Lastly, The attack on Pearl Harbor united the Allied powers against the Axis forces, strengthening their resolve to defeat Japan, Germany, and Italy.

This was a brutal part of the attack because many weapons and resources were stored on these ships and many were being destroyed. Many soldiers had to risk their lives by going in these ships. They created many regulations with these ships because they wanted to protect the U.S. navy in anyway possible, so they limited some ships.
