He served for the military, the U.S Congress, and for president. He was able to see the bigger picture when it came to the American Civil war. Slavery was an issue that only kept growing as the war continued. He drafted the Emancipation Proclamation and released it on September 22 while this did not free all slaves it did help the problem. He had integrity and was the type of person who wanted everything to be fair. His honesty consisted of him closing the shop and walking to customers house when he realized he shortchanged a customer. Lincoln had attended Washingtons Ford Theater to watch the performance of "Our American Cousin" and was seated in the presidential box without guards. Booth later shot him on his left ear that night and escaped even after being injured while attempting to run away.
