         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Born: June 8th, 1814</li><li>Died: April 12th, 1864</li><li>Connection to Texas: He fought for the Confederate forces as a calvary commander. Was killed while charging a fleet of federal gunboats.</li><li>Thomas fought in the Texas Revolution and was a valued leader. He led his unit to a series of victories and when he died, David Dixon Porter called his death a serious loss to the Confederacy. He was also given a land grant by Sam Houston because was such an influential character. Thomas Green was obviously an important person.</li><li>He fought in many wars and was injured many times. He was finally mortally wounded in a calvary charge. He overcame many challenges in the battles of Valverde and Bayou Bourbeux. He was a military genius and, as such, was treated very well.</li></ul>]]></description>
