Cocaine can be used in multiple ways. The leaves from the coca plant are chewed with lime or "plant ash", the powder form of cocaine can also be snorted, mixed with water and injected, or smoked (Bigelow 2006). Different methods of using cocaine have different reactions/reaction times on the user. The quickest way to the brain is smoking. However, the most dangerous in injecting because it involves needles and putting the substance directly in the bloodstream (Bigelow 2006).

"Cocaine." UXL Encyclopedia of Drugs and Addictive Substances, edited by Barbara C.
