Over the course of the year my writing has developed and reached a new level.

Some mistakes and problems that I feel like that is still lingering is my conclusions. This year I think I have done a better job on closing my essays with good concluions but I still need to work on it until I am confident about them.

What I have done really well is coming up with good ideas and topics that people can relate to while reading my essays. I like to write about personal experiences and things I have learned. I can definitely improve upon my vocabulary using stronger words.

Example of my best introduction. It gives information about my topic and I have a good thesis.

Pop Culture is modern popular culture transmitted via mass media and aimed particularly at younger people, according to Google. Hip-Hop entertainment is very popular in pop culture and in the African American society. Hip-hop entertainment has an influence on fashion, television, and language. Hip-Hop entertainment is sending negative messages and influences about females and males, teaches us that authority doesn't matter, and distracts young females and males from the real world.

Example of not my best conclusion. It is not the best conclusion because I did not restate my thesis and the three main points of my my essay.

The message of the Declaration of Independence is how Americans are still seen today. Americans display the characteristics of strength, courage, and hostility back then and are continuing to fight for what is right. If it wasn't for those three characteristics of an American we would not be Americans today. This is what it means to be a passionate American.

My first introduction paragraph. I think for my first essay this was an okay introduction because I gave information about the topic and I stated my thesis.

What is an African American? I am a proud and beautiful African American. Other racist may see that African Americans are violent, ignorant, and uneducated because how the media portray some blacks. Truth is told our ethnicity has a great amount of talent, in history and today we have intelligent leaders, and we are very opinionated.

Example of my best conclusion. I restated my thesis and my three main points. Also I gave my readers some ideas of how we can make a change in pop culture.

The negative messages and influences of young

females and males, the disrespect of authority, and the distraction that Hip-Hop entertainment is causing can all be changed. There was a time when there was Hip-Hop music that sent positive messages and talked about things that matter. Instead of listening and spreading negative music that talks about drugs, sex, and hatred we should start listening and sharing music that is positive, encouraging, and talks about love, for example gospel music. We are pop culture and the change can start with us.
