I was put in to a class with a majority of boys which made it extremely interesting. I've been hearing students comments, and the way they think and what they will and work on. But, one thing that i loved about them is how they are actually decent boys. One boy in particular, his name was cameron. Since the begging of the year, he's been a very sweet boy but he was just not happy to be here. Since i've been here i've seen him grow a little bit regarding his work. One moment that really stuck out to me is when ( around October) the class was sent to the library to work on an assignment. They could sit anywhere they wanted to, so of course i chose a table to get a good observation and still be far enough away from them to not make any impact on their attitude. He decided to sit next to me out of all his friends. And when he sat down he asked if i was okay and if i wanted to talk about something because looked sad. I was just tired, but for some reason this boy had already been showing some kind of connection to me because i would say hi and talk to him about his day. Since then, he's actually become a friend of mine and i always think of how crazy it is that if i didn't get this class, i would have never even knew who he was. And i'm happy that i am here because i would like to think that i keep him in a good head space where he can get work done.

She's been really generous with the students giving them way more time than i've ever seen in any other classes with late work and even revising essays that could change their grades drastically. This really gives students no excuse to not have a good grade. I would say that about 85% of the class is taking advantage of it and working on their grade, and the other side isn't being as serious and isn't trying. It really makes me sad to see that they aren't taking advantage of this time they have in class, but it's their grades. One thing that i've definitely learned from mrs. Bliker is how to be patience. I've never seen someone with so much patience with a class as rowdy as this one can be. She also just cares so much for her students which is so amazing to see. We started reading the american born chinese book. So, we had a sub on thursday and wow these kids were talkative and they got loud quick. The guest teacher had to tell them to quiet down.

We did start a new unit. It is all about comic books and graphic novels. They just watched a video and they did a activity on the video. It's been a pretty straight forward week in terms of what the schedule was like and what they did.

I have an idea that maybe i can bring in a bowl of snack ideas in on thursday if they've been good for the week technology wise, then at the end of class i'll pull out a snack out of the bowl and that's what i can bring in that Friday. Or i'll pick it Wednesday and bring it in Thursday. 
Mrs. B gave me a clipboard with everyone's face on it, and every-time i saw a phone i would have to mark their name. Now at the beginning of doing this, it was more just for insurance reasons because a lot of people weren't putting in work and then expected they are to be a retake or a “please curve my grade”. So, with their name marked on the paper every time they were on their phone, they really wouldn't be able to give any excuses. So now for the CM strategy project, I think this will help me keep track of how much they either like the idea, and the phone usage goes down, or i'll find out that they don't care and that they'll just use it regardless. I'll talk a little more with mrs. B and see what she thinks or if she would add or do anything a little differently but i think it's a pretty solid plan.

I have been told by multiple students in my class that they liked how i actually seemed like i cared, and that i showed interest in what they did before that hour and what they were doing over the weekend. They said it was little things like that, that helped them feel a little closer to me. I have also found from them and personal experience that if you have a close relationship with you students they want you to be proud of them or at least not be disappointing in them so they'll usually do there work and follow directions in a less stubborn way. Once i started taking students to the library for my project, they did the work because i would talk to them and explain that that's what they're suppose to do and they would start to work on it because i told them its what they should be doing. my relationship with them helped get there work done. ]]> 2019-05-20 16:27:32 UTC https://padlet.com/irelandkvorhies37/evut8527g2i6/wish/361808849
