Suheir Hammad is passionate about what she writes. She is the kind of person who stands up for what is right. " I will not hate for you or even hate you. I will not kill for you.  Especially I will not die for you. I will not mourn the dead with murder nor suicide."

2. Enjambment is when a poet intentionally continues a sentence without a pause beyond the end of a line, which Hammad uses repeatedly. What effect is created through this stylistic technique in this poem?

It can give the pome more detail rather than limiting it to a single line. It can also make the poem have more feeling to it.

3. Overall, is this an optimistic or pessimistic poem? Explain your view by making specific references to
the language in the text.

I feel that this poem is pessimistic because it talks about going against war and the things it makes you sacrifice. For example "I will not dance to your war drum. I will not lend my soul nor my bones to your war drum.
