The word "mandala" evokes images of intricate, mesmerizing patterns, often radiating from a central point. While these complex designs are a vibrant expression of the art form, a lesser-known, yet equally captivating side exists. I chose to draw a simple mandala because for me, simple mandalas embrace the essence of the form, distilled to its purest elements.

"Sortir," a French word meaning "to go out," carries within it a multitude of nuances. It can suggest physically leaving a space, but it can also connote escaping one's comfort zone, venturing into the unknown, or even embarking on a journey of self-discovery.

I specifically chose vibrant hues, since it is often associated with pride and self-expression, and can symbolize liberation from societal expectations and where I can embrace my true self. I paint a picture of a world where I can exist authentically and unapologetically.

The sight of a city illuminated at night can be truly breathtaking, that's why I chose to take this photo. The twinkling lights, the bustling streets, and the towering buildings all come together to create this magical scene. Capturing this beauty in a photo is for me, a way to share and capture my own connection to the city and its people.

I decided to write a poem as a way of sharing with the world my experience coming out as ME. It tells the tale of my battles to come out of my shell, how I conquered them by using courage as my strength, and how I learned to accept my imperfections.
