I went on Google Scholar and put in key words related to my question, examples like "Horror and Phobias in Media", "Why we like to be scared?" and so on. I found more contemporary sources related to Junji Ito's work since there is a lack of academic papers about him and his work.

Research Padlet with Sources I accumulated
https://padlet.com/ngonzalez170/8u2vn8oy4gsjfswg

I determined what notable themes stood out and how they are represented. I gathered research material that helps my topic and choose some quotes that support my work and conducted a survey about fears and phobias.

I dedicated a couple of weeks to writing my dissertation in a spaced out manner to make sure I don't get overwhelmed with the task. I began with Introduction and conclusion so it would lighten my load. It was simple and a undaunting task to first complete. I also divided my word count amount my parts so I know approximately how many words I need to write in each part.

This period of the Christmas break I spent writing my main body paragraphs. I split 600 words into two parts of my day. 300 in the morning and 300 in the evening and perhaps starting the intro to the next paragraph. I separate quotes from my academic and contemporary sources and introduce them into my paragraphs. Writing the whole main paragraphs I estimate would take a week and a half. Then more time for practise work.

In this time I created a rough sketch and outline of my artefact which was a couple sample pages of a horror manga in the style of Junji Ito. I wrote the story down in a brainstorm then outlined what specific pages I will illustrate. Then drafted the panels and laid out the structure. I decided on a cover page, a intro page, a build up, then climax (the visual horror full page). The pulled my drafts into Clip Studio Paint and refined them.
