In 2011, Tiffany Masterson was a stay at home mom who sold bars of soap as a side job. Her clients always came to her with their unique skin conditions. She would start to find complementary products for them. This started her search for unique and healthy skincare products. She had a background in science so she wanted to learn more about the ingredients that go into these things. She learned that a single bar of soap wouldn’t be enough for her buyers. She started to dream up all natural products that she could use. She met with a chemist who told her these ideas were sound and this sparked her interest of creating her own brand.

In 2012, Tiffany founded Drunk Elephant. After careful consideration and lots of research she decided to launch the brand. She had done lots of research on the ingredients that go into the products so her customers were happy.

In 2013, Tiffany started to put together her products. She then put her first one out which was the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. This product quickly gained attention for its unique formulation and benefits for the skin. Since it’s launch it has become a staple in consumer’s skincare routines.

In 2014, Drunk Elephant started to expand faster. Tiffany had contacted lots of stores to get her products out in the world. The expansions of Drunk Elephant showcased the brand’s commitment to providing clean, effective skincare solutions. The continued success solidified Drunk Elephant’s position in the industry.

In 2015, Tiffany contacted Sephora about getting her products in their store. She then after saw the owner at a convention. At first she was denied, but then a week later the owner contacted her and said she wanted the products in her store. In the first 11 days of having her products in store they sold out. Her company grew rapidly after this.

Drunk Elephant was growing rapidly and started to experiment and come up with more products. It hit a milestone in 2016 when it introduced one of its most beloved products, the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. 2016 was a pivotal year for Drunk Elephant because of its expansion of its product range.

In 2019, Tiffany Masterson sold Drunk Elephant to Shiseido for $845 million. In 6 years the brand had grown from $0-$845 million.
