Stanza 1: The author describes a man who steps out of sunlight, such as away from the shadows, into sunlight that streams like grace (beautiful and elegant sun rays)
Stanza 2: The author describes the sunlight to still be gaping at blue sky, such as being able to still see the sky, and staked across the emptiness of space, such as it being marked across an empty sky.
Stanza 3: The author describes the man stepping into a history where shadows assume a human face, such as the world of where people just assume that a hidden figure is a person without truly looking at them and their face.
Stanza 4: The author describes a man slipping into silence that began as a cry, like he is crying for help and now he is silent.
Stanza 5: The author describes the sound of trailing music although reduced to a sigh, like the sound suddenly goes silent.
Stanza 6: The author describes an object that is an accordion, as it folds back into its case.
