After the holidays we will be exploring the nature v nurture debate. The website below may help you to understand it better.
Over the October holidays, please take some time to really get to know your celebrity- I don't mean turn up on their doorstep and invite them out!... I mean find out what you can about the things that have happened to them. For example, what type of build were they when they were growing up, were they tall, small slim, overweight, did they suffer from any serious illness -why was this? look at their parents, look at their surroundings. How well did they do at school? Did they go to university? Why was this - again look at their parents, siblings, look at their surroundings - how wealthy were they? Why/ how did they get into the thing they are famous for- look at parents, look at those around them. In other words which parts of their lives were caused by genes, which were caused by the environment? Jot your findings down on a piece of paper with 2 headings Genes(nature) and Environment (nurture) and bring to class after the holidays.
