Chapter 9 (Lifespan Development) page 304 section 9.4, discusses important parenting styles. This is very significant as a mother because I discovered the parenting style I adapted to. I was following the authoritative parenting style. The guidelines follow a warm environment, a set of consistent rules and expectations. Additionally, I find interest in listening to my children's thoughts and feelings. Out of all the 4 parenting styles, each parent provides a single attribute depending on their experience and/or what would be best for them.

After reviewing my score of self-motivation, I noticed that my place in self-motivation is great. According to the article, it stated that I can accomplish more in my life and be successful. The only way I can achieve and accomplish my goals is by increasing my self motivation level. To start off, I need to build self-confidence which will help me believe in success. I need to understand the potential I have and that I need to be confident in myself in achieving goals. Next, self assurance is very significant in achieving goals. I need to believe that anything possible and I won't let failure get in the way. Lastly, increasing the level in self-efficacy will help me believe in my own capability. This will help achieve the goals I set for myself.

According to the score of Self-Confidence, I am aware of my capability in achieving goals. Referring to the "MindTools" website, I need to be kind to myself and contribute from my past accomplishments or what they call "mastery experiences." Some of my mastery experiences are done by hard work and/or effort. This will help me to view the success I have experienced in the past and boost my confidence. I have experienced in One thing I need to work on are my decision making skills. Just by doing this, I will have more confidence in making choices. Lastly, staying positive in important in any stressful situation to improve my levels of self-confidence.

On the "Locus of Control" quiz, I scored a 57% on the Internal and 43% External. The results shown that my locus of Control is "Undifferentiated." To be honest, I was not surprised of my results. I actually do experience both internal and external locus of control depending on the situation. For example, on the "Internal Locus", I honestly do have control over situations. To elaborate, I feel like I do well on exams because of the effort I put and I study often. On the other hand, or the "External Locus" I personally feel that fate controls my own life and that I cannot do anything about it. For example, when I passing the class that is hardest for me last semester, I thought that an outside force such as luck was going to determine my grade. Sometimes I wish that my locus of control is Internal because I would be able to control my life and would make effective decisions. I will try my best to have more Internal locus of control in the future.

In Chapter 13, section 13.4 page 438 talks about Schizophrenia. It talks about how it can impact every side of a person's life. It is quite fascinating how it talks about the psychological disorder could impact a persons life with hallucinations like things they hear and see. While speaking, they say strange words that get off topic. Its tragic how their thoughts are impaired and they experience delusions. People with schizophrenia are either unable to express emotions or exaggerate it. Schizophrenia involves abnormal behavior like social withdrawal and disorientation.

The most interesting topics I found in this psychology class were "Improving Long-Term Memory" and Bandura's experiment with the "Bobo doll." Chapter 7, section 7.1, page 212 helped me with my studying habits. For example, I memorized these study steps. First, I organized the information into categories. Second, I rehearsed the information by repeating and making the information meaningful. Lastly, I retrieved the information using keywords. In Chapter 6, section 6.3, page 194, I found Bandura's experiment with the Bobo doll pretty interesting to me. I was stunned to see how the adult was a role model for the young kids but the kids were more aggressive. As a mother, I do know that I must be a role for my children. For this reason, while I am with my children, I model good behavior for them to pick up.

In my opinion, PSY-131-99 gave me an abundant amount of knowledge. The video lectures of Mrs. Buchanan were straightforward. If the assignments were hard, I would've never been able to complete them. I enjoyed this discussion board and as for the previous ones I got to express myself and use my creativity. I wished that we had a longer time limit for exams. I loved the oral test because I didn't have a test in front of my face, rather it felt like a conversation with Mrs. Buchanan.
