         <description><![CDATA[<div>INTRODUCTION: Why does our school need it?<br>Internationalism is increasingly being seen as a way to move schools into the future. Global issues are an important part of the lives of our students living in a world where global communication is a daily reality, where economies are increasingly interdependent, where gender and race equality are pursued and where climate change is more and more perceptible. Through the inclusion of an international focus in Don Boscocollege Zwijnaarde and by implementing international work in the lessons and other areas, we are able to offer to our pupils a range of experiences that will increase their learning and raise consciousness of their personal, national and international identity.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><h1>AIMS: How do we want to achieve the EU objectives/priorities?</h1><ul><li>to develop <strong>curiosity and an open attitude</strong> about/towards other cultures and our own bilingual Belgian culture</li><li>to enjoy regular contact with students and adults living in different countries and so improve the <strong>acquisition of language skills an awareness of linguistic diversity</strong>&nbsp;</li><li>to prepare students to <strong>live in a diverse global society </strong>by focussing on their basic and transversal skills</li><li>to embed <strong>the global dimension within the school internal and external curriculum </strong>and so promote the European lifelong learning way of life and in order to also respond to the modernization of our education system.</li><li>to encourage greater <strong>involvement in environmental issues</strong>: our pupils know that they can act now to develop fair responses to environmental change</li><li>to provide an added opportunity for <strong>the promotion of equal opportunities, racial equality and citizenship</strong>: our pupils are aware of the fact that all humans should be treated fairly</li></ul><div><br></div><h1>OBJECTIVES: What are we going to achieve?</h1><ul><li>convincing teachers of the <strong>added value of international projects</strong></li><li>mapping <strong>international perspectives in the different subjects</strong> at our school (cf. audit template)&nbsp;</li><li>motivating teachers to work out / undertake cross-curricular international projects. Show them <strong>the added value of the seven key concepts of the global dimension</strong>; diversity, conflict resolution, human rights, interdependence, social justice, sustainable development, values and perceptions.&nbsp;</li><li>make <strong>access for all modern language students communicating with native speakers</strong>: actively encouraging the study of foreign languages.&nbsp;</li><li>continuing organizing<strong> teacher international professional development</strong>&nbsp;</li><li>gain <strong>accreditation for international work</strong> : try to achieve an international award&nbsp;</li><li>Our <strong>school community “De Bron”</strong> remains the link between the teachers who attend international in-service training courses and undertake projects, and organize meetings to <strong>share the good practices</strong>. Thus we share our rich and diverse heritage.</li><li>the <strong>community</strong> (parents, school council, parents' council, colleagues ...) is <strong>involved</strong> in the international projects. In this way we increase the awareness of the global dimension to the wider community across the whole school.</li></ul>]]></description>
