Prometheus wanted to make the world better than it was before, so he started with trying to help humanity by giving them fire. He proposed the idea to Jupiter and was denied because Jupiter thought that humanity would become too smart and overtake mount Olympus. But Prometheus had his heart set on helping mankind, so he defied Jupiter' s orders and gave fire to humans. Soon after humans learned how to cook their own food, provide warmth, and knowledge from Prometheus. Prometheus was overjoyed! But one day, Jupiter happened to look down at mankind and he saw fires and development and was very angry. When he learned that Prometheus was the one behind all of it he came up with a plan to punish Prometheus and humanity at the same time. He asked Vulcan to create a woman and he would give her the gift of life along with other gifts from other gods such as beauty, curiosity, and a kind heart. He sent her down with a golden casket containing horrible creatures to be Epimetheus' wife. Although Prometheus was wary at first he gave in eventually. Pandora was always curious about the casket but never looked inside, thinking of Athena's warning, but then one day she thought about how there must be jewels inside that would only add to her beauty and Athena was not right. So, Pandora opened the casket and out flew thousands of disgusting monsters who came upon humanity and brought suffering and diseases to each household. She managed to keep the last one inside which, if it got out, would've not let joy or hope be felt by anyone as soon as they were born. If Pandora had not been given the gift of curiosity than all of those horrible monsters wouldn't have been released into humanity and plagued them for all eternity.
