         <title>1.  Value added on BTEC Business Extended Diploma level 3 maintained high results - predicted this year level 2</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.&nbsp; BTEC Business Extended Diploma Level 3 managed a progression event for 45 delegates.&nbsp; Results showed students were keen to enrol on Extended Diploma for September 2018.<br><br>1. BTEC Business Level 3 carried out bids to the Marketing department on resources for the Skills show.&nbsp; The successful bids were selected and produced.&nbsp; This caused more interest in Business courses and increased data collection on those prospective students.<br><br>1.&nbsp; BTEC Business Extended Diploma level 3 were involved with the Marketing department on the review of the college logo and the business image<br><br>1.&nbsp; BTEC Business Level 2 extended certificate achieved 7 merits, 7 level 2 passes and 11 level 1 passes in the Finance exam.<br><br>1. M &amp; E monitored by all Personal Tutors and attendance therefore appeared this year better compared to last year. <strong>CM to add data</strong><br>&nbsp;<br>1. WEX has gone well.&nbsp; All students have a placement completed or arranged. 11 students are completing their WEX in Portugal or Florence.&nbsp; Staff have supported students on the placement in Portugal.<br><br>1. Educational visits and trips. Extended diploma Level 3 went to the law courts in Wolverhampton (Research for law unit) and Drayton Manor park (celebration reward for managing an event).&nbsp; Level 3 Business students went to the Sea Life Centre. &nbsp;<br><br>1.&nbsp; Successful outcome from Pearson Standards Verification for BTEC Business Level 2 Extended Certificate and BTEC Business level 1 Diploma.&nbsp; Both reports commented on the excellent practice in assessment and IV.<br><br>1. BTEC Business level 1 retention is 100%.<br><br>2. DS has caused a lot of frustration for staff and students.&nbsp; There needs to be a simpler system which is easy for the student to complete and easily monitored.&nbsp; With the reduction of tutorial hours for September 2018 DS should not be monitored by Personal Tutors.<br><br>2.&nbsp; WEX - the role of arranging WEX should be removed from the Personal tutor as it is not possible to arrange in class.&nbsp; Some students cannot do WEX outside of college due to their personal learning needs/disability.&nbsp; This needs to be investigated and alternatives explored.<br><br>2. Staff issues this year due to illness and lack of recruitment have meant that new and agency staff have had to be taken on.&nbsp; This has caused disruption to students with some classes having had 3 different tutors during the year.&nbsp; Existing lecturers have had to give extra support and time to students and new staff which has increased their workload.<br><br>2.  M &amp; E - issue with changing staff have had a negative affect on students.  Lecturers should be informed of staff changes.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
