A small eruption took place in Krakatoa on June 19, 2018. The eruption produced ashes that rose a few hundred meters before dissipating according to Volcano Discovery. Since March 2018, thermal radiation has increased and is at moderate levels, which also suggests that magma is near the surface. On June 22, another explosive eruption occurred. At the beginning of July, according to Volcano Discovery, Anak Krakatoa showed signs of increased activity and it seems that the eruption reached a more or less continuous phase. In mid-July the activity in the volcano remained explosive and continued with remarkable seismicity. In August, the volcano experienced strong explosive eruptions of Strombolian / Vulcan type with ash and lava bombarding hundreds of meters in the air. On September 22, 2018 Krakatoa erupted 56 times according to BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency). The alert level remained at 2.
