A niche market is the subset of the market on which a specific product is focused. It is also a very small and usually its a company just starting and usually don't have much money market. They identify a small group of people and make the product based around them. Aimed at an even smaller market audience than independent film. Kickstarter is a good example of a niche market.

A Night In The Cabin
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2068549243/a-night-in-the-cabin-feature-horror-film/updates

Funding - Their goal for the movie is $3,000 it has currently made $1835 (28.11.2016) with only 15 days to go. A week later (05.12.2016) it has made $2,064 with 8 days left.

Budget - Making a film with $3,000 means that it won't be shot as well as most popular horror films. Which means i won't have well known actors, very many special effects and it won't have a very good set design.
