Front loading is when presidential primaries dates are pushed earlier in the year to gain an advantage over other candidates. It makes it so that other candidates are required to raise money for their campaigns in a shorter amount of time and it makes it more difficult for lesser known candidates to gain momentum in their campaigns. An example of front loading is during the 2000 presidential primaries, on March 7th eleven states had held their primaries which had represented 26.8% of total Republican delegates and 30.3% of total Democratic delegates.
