I was selective in choosing SCAMPER methods to use for my attributes. They don't all apply to every attribute so I only used the ones that are most helpful in solving my problem.

Attribute and Problem Components Adjusted using SCAMPER:
1. Money
- (REVERSE) I don't have to work to make money. Perhaps I could make money by applying for scholarships, grants, asking for donations, etc.
- (REVERSE) I have to spend more to have sufficient funds. Perhaps a wise investment would supply me with sufficient travel funds.
2. Time
- (MAGNIFY) I have all the time in the world to make money. Perhaps I could decide to get a credit card to use during my semester abroad and pay it off once I return to the states.
- (ADAPT) I'm consistently free in the middle of the night. Perhaps I find a way to make money at night, either working from home or working a night shift somewhere.
- (ELIMINATE) I don't need to find more time to work, I need to find a way to make more money in less time. Perhaps I could hit the jackpot at the casino.
3. Work
- (COMBINE) I can commit to many different jobs, none of which are full-time. Perhaps I could find multiple different ways to make money without ever getting a full-time job.
- (SUBSTITUTE) I find a way to make money while attending to my other responsibilities. Perhaps I could find someone who will pay me to advertise their business on my car. Then I'd be making money while driving around meeting my other responsibilities.
- (COMBINE) I could be employed and self-employed. Perhaps I could do TV extra work for my sporadic employment, while also working for myself as a contracted mechanic.
- (PUT TO OTHER USES) I have lots of tools for fixing cars. Perhaps I could allow people to rent my tools for a fee.
4. Travel/Abroad
- (SUBSTITUTE) I could get a student/work visa so I can work if I need to.
- (ADAPT) I will want to work while I'm abroad if I find a way to get paid for learning, exploring, traveling, etc. Perhaps I could start a successful blog about my adventures and get paid for my posts.
- (MAGNIFY) My travel budget is infinite. Specifically, using the internet to apply for grants/scholarships and create a GoFundMe page, which can all be done in my sporadic spare time. I can utilize my contacts in the automotive industry to acquire contract labor opportunities as a mechanic, allowing me at my own convenience. I can also utilize the internet to miscellaneous items that I no longer have a use for. I can also arrange to utilize my summer break to care for my younger brother. This would be ideal because the money that my mother would've spent on daycare can be paid to me for my travel fund.
