Palestine is a parliamentary democracy. A president and prime minister co-rule the state. A legislative council serves as the checks and balances for this system. There are multiple parties in this system and they all have different idealogies. Each party represents a certain belief of the people and promises to bring them to the government. whichever party is more popular will hold more power in the government. Usually this will be the Fatah party.the government was formed in 1996 as an agreement between the PLO and denmark.

Source-Palestine.dk

Laws People must follow in Palestine.

There is not a lot of easily accessible documentation on the laws in palestine. Certain things may be punishable by death in palestine. Those suspected of spying can be executed after their trial which is usually pretty one sided. One man who was caught with drugs in Palestine said that " They caught me with two pills and i was in jail for a month. If my brothers find me again i will be beheaded". another senior police officer says " If he is caught smoking hash he will have one year until execution." one woman in the video was put in jail for 6 years for cheating on her husband and having a son out of it. Certain crimes are met with very harsh punishments for what seem like very minor offenses. In Palestine things are not like the US you have much less freedoms.

Vice news-Crime and punishment in the gaza strip.

Election System.

Half of all seats on the parliament are distributed to the party that had the most votes in the elections. Whatever seats remain are filled by the politician with the most votes from their respective district. The president who is elected by the people may then choose a prime minister sort of like a vice president. After choosing a prime minister the president may choose the members of his cabinet. All palestinians living in certain territories may vote in these elections. Certain parties are extremely favored by the people and even with democratic process things get out of hand sometimes. Hamas, one of the major political parties tends to be extremely violent.Just last month they executed 5 suspected spies to death. They had no solid proof of collaboration with any other countries.

council for foreign relations/Al Jazeera

Hamas is a key part of palestine. If you are talking about palestine you will talk about one iteration or another of the radicalized islamic militant group. this group rules the Gaza strip which includes most of palestine's very small population. In august of 2014 18 people were caught and convicted of spying against the state. Hamas executed all 18 by gunshot. This group has been supplied by Iran who does not like israel much. These groups are funded and encouraged to commit "Jihad against israel". The iranian government funds them in hopes that they will destroy israel who they are enemies with. In july of 2015 the group opened fire on a rally for a political opponent who had recently died. 5 died in this incident and hamas claimed responsibility. These radicalists control much of the population and instill fear into them.

Fox news/Wall street journal/associated press

Israel and Palestine have been either at war or passively attacking eachother for a long long time. On january 11 2019 Israeli forces fired into a palestinian crowd after protests became violent. On the seventh of january an airstrike was carried out by israeli air force planes and destroyed two buildings on the gaza strip. No casualties were reported but the site belonged to a hamas affiliate. The long history of Israel and palestine leads to conflicts like these on the regular. In 1948 after the events of the holocaust jewish people ended up wanting their own country. Their historical home of Israel was given to them but it unfortunately included most of the already existing palestine. When Israel came and established itself many in palestine saw it as suppressing the religious freedoms of palestinians and taking space away from them. there have been feuds over the space ever since.
