Barcelona became the latest European city to be struck by a terrorist ramming into pedestrians, as at least 13 people were killed and 100 more injured in one of the continent’s busiest tourist spots.

Islamic State has threatened more attacks in Europe as its militants lost territory in Syria and Iraq. While some of the previous terrorists had training, others have just been inspired by the extremists with little or no formal contact.

The nation has been a target of Islamist terrorism before. About 200 people were killed by bombs on early morning commuter trains in Madrid in 2004. Though like in most capitals until recently, tourist thoroughfares typically don’t have the barriers used to protect institutions.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-17/terror-strikes-a-european-city-again-as-13-killed-in-barcelona

Julio E. There were no deaths or injuries, but this is an aggression against the sovereignty of Japan as North Korea is violating its sovereignty over its airspace, this poses a serious threat, not only against Japan or South Korea, but also against the military islands of the United States, it is not the first time North Korea demonstrates its strength with ballistic missiles, but this time they threatened the sovereignty of a country and demonstrated that the island of Guam is within its reach, they will continue to launch missiles until the UN withdraws the sanctions that it put to this country.

It is hard to imagine any conflict breaking out since the risk of escalation to all-out war would be very likely in these highly-charged times. The US is signalling strongly that the North Koreans should do nothing that might risk a conflict.

All-out war would be catastrophic in terms of lives lost. It might potentially involve the use of nuclear weapons - the first time since the closing stages of the Second World War - which could set a terrifying new precedent in international affairs.

At its close, after terrible destruction, North Korea would no longer exist. That is a given, hence the hope that the Pyongyang regime is rational and understands the risks involved.

Is Mexico Ready For The End Of NAFTA?

While negotiations to update the North American Free Trade Act (NAFTA) continue there is more uncertainty about the deal than at any point in the last two decades. While Trump continues to vacillate between talking about the possibility of a smart recalibration of the treaty and threatening to end it, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has signalled his willingness to negotiate a bilateral trade deal with the U.S. It makes sense for Canada to want to preserve the existing relationship it has with the U.S. Like Mexico Canada sends over three quarters of its exports to the U.S.

Mexican politicians, are already taking a much more hostile tone with Trump. If the NAFTA framework can’t be preserved it makes sense for Mexico to simply walk away from the negotiating table. While Canada can try and preserve its current trade relationship with the U.S. it makes more sense for Mexico to insist that if Trump is going to reject the NAFTA framework and pursue a one-on-one relationship with Mexico that those bilateral talks involve trade, security, organized crime, migration and the border wall all at the same time.

source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/nathanielparishflannery/2017/10/16/is-mexico-ready-for-the-end-of-nafta/#3d212cb43266
