George Lucas gets an Idea for a movie series(Star Wars). This concept was supposed to take place a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. A story of love betrail and loyalty. George Lucas then writes up the story line and decides to make a movie series about it.

1975

George Lucas is getting ready to start production of the movies. But he needs more than just filming to make the movies great. George Lucas organized the ILM(Industrial Light and Motion), which would be responsible for createing the special effects for the Star Wars Movies.

1976

After George Lucas founds the ILM then he appoints John Dykstra to be the Special effects manager and he over saw all the magic in the ILM detpartment. Later on in 1976 John Dykstra invents the motion-control camera technology. A motion control camera was able to shoot duplicate passes one after another, it was able to do this because using a mechanical system operated by a computer to move on a path specified to the fraction of an inch could shoot the shots they needed.

1977

May 25, 1977, A New Hope came out. The movie directed by George Lucas's Lucas Films was a block buster. The movie used the motion-control technology to give the effect of an X-Wing to swoop across the moon or the Millienum Falcon to fly across the screen. The motion-control camera was used for mainly dog fights in this movie. The ILM was also on top of the special effects in the movie. The Special effects were so extraordinary because since the motion control camera could shoot multiple shots, they could manipulate the audience pasteing the special effects right over the multiple layers of film to make the view feel like they were in the moment.

1980

May 21, 1980, The empire strikes back comes out. The movie was another blockbuster after the first one. The lucas films used the same motion-control camera technology as before. One way they used the motion-control camera to was to show the other tug-boat type space ships in cloud city on bespin to fly right next to the Millienium Falcon almost as either ship was guideing the Falcon into the city. Or when The Slave 1 and the Millienium Falcon were in a dog fight.

1983

In 1983 when the Return of the Jedi came out the motion-control camera was used to film the dog fights around the Death Star and above the Endor moon. The motion-control camera would depict the royale speeder of Jabba the hut Zooming across the desert above the sand. As well as when the Rebel fleet comes out of hyper space preparing to attack the death star.

2017

In the Force awakens movie, 2017, the motion control technology was rought back to star wars for a final film. The motion Control technology was used to depict dog fights over the Star Killer base when the Restiance was trying to take down the First Order. Another time in this movie when the motion control camera was used is when Po Demerian was flying over the water to Maz's castle to reenforce the restistance in a battle.

After the Force Awakens movie Came out the filming was so high quality. Then after Lucas Film sold Star Wars to Disney, Disney brought back the motion control technology to film the Razor Crest in many dog fights throughout the Mandolorian show. after this show the motion control Technology has not resurfaced.
