I live in Loja, which is considered "The heart of the Poniente Granadino". It has a population of about 20.000 inhabitans. Loja is near of cities like Granada, which is 30 minutes away from Loja; Malaga, 35-40 minutes away; and Sevilla, 2 hours away.

Loja is famous for the Easter celebrations, with " Los Incensarios", a typical character only seen in Loja; and by " Los roscos de Loja" ,recently considered the 'best dessert of Andalusia.

The name derives from a mix between ‘Huetor’ and ‘Tajara’, its name back in the  Muslim Era. 

This town is located in the Genil river plain. Moreover, it has a great agricultural wealth, the most important agricultural aspect is the asparagus cultivation and other derivate products from this, like confiture or asparagus liquor.

I was born in Loja, a town of Granada which is part of the ´Poniente Granadino´. Loja is the most inhabited town of the ´Poniente Granadino´: it has 20.000 inhabitants. It has an area of over 2042 square kilometres. It’s very near to the province of Malaga so there are a lot of tourists every day.

Loja is famous for its water, it’s called ´the city of water´ because it has many water springs, for example, the ´Infiernos´
