What we did was I took the temperature of the room temperature metal washers.. It was 80 degrees. Then we took the temperature of the hot water. That was 102 degrees. After that we put the room temperature metal washers in the hot water cup. After a few minutes of that we took the metal washers out. We took the temperature of the water now and that was 92. We took the temperature of the metal washers now and those were now 88 degrees. The results we found were the water was now colder because if gave away some of its energy to the metal washers. So now the metal washers were hotter than they were before. The hot water should be a little colder now because it gave its hot to the metal washers. After that experiment we did another experiment. This time we had hot metal washers and room temperature water. One person from our group would get up and the hot metal washers. Two people would take the temperature of the hot metal washers while the other would take the temperature of the room temperature water. The temperature of the hot metal washers were 104 degrees. The temperature of the room temperature water was 76 degrees. After we done with that. We took the hot metal washers and put them in the room temperature water. After a few minutes we took out the metal washers. We took the temperature of room temperature water which was now 92 degrees. Then we took the temperature of the hot metal washers which were now 84 degrees. The results that we found were that the hot metal washers gave away some of their heat to room temperature water. The room temperature water took that heat and it was no longer room temperature. The hot metal washers were now colder because they gave away their heat.
