If no one did anything about it, then a lot more of their country would have gotten controlled. They would also lose even more trade ports and resources. Although, They should have expected the foreigners to fight back against them and kill the boxers. They were trying to help their country, but they just made them even more poor. The boxers were not just worried about their land being stolen, they were worried about trading ports being taken. Europe had already taken 50 trading ports before they did something about it. Trading ports are very useful because they can help you gain profit by obtaining resources.

The Age of Imperialism deserves a bad rap because of the way it treated weaker countries. smaller countries that were not as strong but had very resourceful things were taken advantage of. They're military was weaker than others so they could not fight back against all the bigger nations. The resourceful nations had spheres of influence and most of the time they could not do anything about it. The Age of Imperialism started many wars between countries trying to take land from other countries, many people were dying in very gruesome ways just for supporting something there nation did not support. The ideas and goals of Imperialism did not seem harmful but they really were. Although some good things came out of it, the bad outweighs the good.
