Brutus thinks that a large republic is unsuccessful because they will fail to represent the diverse interest among the citizens, Madison thinks that a large republic is better suited to control effects of factions rather than a small republic. Which side do u agree with more and whyy?

Given that a large portion of the populace in larger states might be prone to a certain type of manipulation or advocacy based on a common interest, what might Madison say with regards to stopping the "mischiefs of faction" from potentially causing chaos locally in states which are comparatively larger, either population-wise or land-wise?

To Madison, the institution of the faction is one of, if not the, largest threat to a stable government based in popular sovereignty.

In his time, most divisions fell along state lines; north vs south on slavery, established states/the frontier, religious differences, etc.

In an America where each coast is a 5 hour plane ride away and we are more divided by race, ideology, creed, etc, should the system be reformed to reflect new factions?
