I think if students have laptops, the teacher can have students put their laptops away during instruction time. Consequences can be given to students that are playing games during instruction time. Rewards can be given if all students in the class are focused on the lesson.

The school I worked for the children only got to use the technology at certain times. We also had a program on the chrome books that monitored their usage. Then the teacher and the para would walk around and check to make sure the children were working. We also informed the students that is the got caught on anything other than a learning site they would lose their privileges.

With technology becoming more and more popular I plan on just using technology when it is needed and on certain days. I also think that teachers can make sure that they are staying on task by walking around to make sure they are working. I also think that technology shouldn't be used daily or all the time they should use it in moderation.

When I was in school our teachers use a website called GoGuardian that allows teachers to see the students computer screens during that class period. It is set up that the students put in a class code when they sign up so it is more organized for the teacher. I like this because if the students are not staying on track the teacher is able to block that link and kick the student off of it from teachers computer without calling them out in front of the whole class.

I would only allow my students to be on their computers during certain times. The teacher I recently observed had her half circle desk directly behind the children and I noticed anytime she had them get on their computers she would work at this desk. I would set my classroom up like this that way even though I am not right there I can still see all of their computers every time I look up!
