Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States, and served from 1861-1865, when he was assassinated. Lincoln created, and passed the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery in the U.S.

Mary Todd Lincoln was Abraham Lincoln's wife and served as the first lady of the United States. Though Mary Todd grew up in a slave-owning family, in her adulthood she came to oppose slavery. She also supported Lincoln in his decision to abolish slavery.

Elizabeth Keckley was the personal dressmaker and confidante of Mary Todd Lincoln. She was also a seamstress, activist, and writer. She was in close contact with both Lincoln's and probably gave them insight on the life of slaves.

The United States Secretary of the Navy from 1861 to 1869. He supported Lincoln in the 1860 election. He carried out part of the Anaconda Plan, sealing off the Confederate coastline, and preventing the exchange of cotton for war supplies.

Stevens was an American politician and lawyer who served as a member of the U.S. House. He was a leader of the radical republicans in the 1860s and opposed slavery.

Ashley was a part of the Republican party, and an American politician and abolitionist. he was another leader of the radical Republicans, and pushed for the passage of the 13th Amendment.

Wade was a lawyer and a politician who served as the United States Senator of Ohio. known for his leadership amongst the Radical Republicans.

Sumner was a lawyer, politician, and statesman who represented Mass in the U.S. Senate. He was also a leading activist for the abolishment of slavery.

Bilbo offered his lobbying services to Lincoln, on behalf of the congressional approval of the 13th amendment. Bilbo supported Lincoln by being one of the men to acquire votes for the passing of the 13th Amendment.
