I chose this picture to represent the role of plants in the environment because it shows how every piece of life makes everything work together. If we didn't have plants, we would all be in trouble. Plants provide oxygen for organisms through photosynthesis and if we did not have plants, there would be a huge disconnect in every ecosystem.

I chose this picture because I believe that it best represents the process of Photosynthesis. As seen in the picture, light energy transfers electrons from water to carbon dioxide, which produces carbohydrates. In the end, oxygen and carbohydrates are produced from the process of Photosynthesis.

This pine cone is an example of a gymnosperm. Gymnosperms are vascular plants that produce seeds in cones. Examples include conifers such as pine and spruce trees. The word "gymnosperm" is Greek for naked seed which I found to be very interesting because gymnosperms do not flower.

I believe that the Grassland Biome is one of the endangered biomes. The change in the weather patterns due to global warming endangers the stability of the grassland biome. Development of urban areas is increasingly cutting into grassland habitat and while fire is beneficial for the grassland biome, it can endanger the people living nearby.

I chose this picture because Animal domestication for food and labor helped the shift from migratory, hunter-gather lifestyles to agricultural ones. The Neolithic Period led to an increased abundance of food, and also far greater food security. The increases in food led to increased human population sizes. The development of agriculture instead of hunting and gathering enabled human beings to live a more settled lifestyle.

The Third Agricultural Revolution is called the Green Revolution and began in the 1930's. New agricultural practices were created to help farmers all over the world and eliminate hunger by improving the output and quality of crops. Genetic modification is one such aspect of the third agricultural revolution: scientists are able to modify genes in order to assist the growth of crops or livestock by increasing resistance to pests, reducing the time needed to grow to adulthood, or increasing the nutritional value of a particular type of food.

Everyone on this planet would be in serious trouble if agricultural, economic, social, and political practices went unchecked. If agricultural practices did not continue, we would not eat. If political practices did not take place, there would be chaos. These are all elements that play a vital role in our world and we have to continue them in order to live the life that we are living.
