The plantation produced 1.5 million pounds of rice in addition to sweet potatoes and corn.

Though it was not unheard of for a landholder to have in the neighborhood of 5-10 thousand acres of land (including land under housing) and hundreds of slaves to work the ground.

They also possessed more than 50,000 acres of undeveloped land in  Texas, and had an estimated 659 slaves in total. Joseph and Adelicia were well known for being two of the most well established slave owners in the south.
