Personalized Overview by Maddy Zhu

I chose the topic entertainment because I'm really interested in this topic and it connects with our everyday life. From the music we listened to the movies we watched, AI is everywhere. It is now changing this industry fast. AI uses algorithms to analyze viewers’ watching habits and then automatically recommends content, create digital art, and even write music or scripts. I think this mix of technology and art shows how powerful AI can be when it supports imagination and emotion.
In my Padlet wall, I will talk about three examples of AI in entertainment. The first one is Netflix using AI to recommend movies based on people’s watching habits. The second one is Electronic Arts, where AI helps design more realistic games and characters. The third one is Mureka, a website that uses AI to compose original songs. These examples show that AI is so close to us, giving humans so many insights and making our life easier.
I find this topic very interesting because I love music, films, and digital art. I want to understand how AI helps artists make new things and how it changes the way we enjoy entertainment. At the same time, I also think about what may happen if AI becomes too strong in this field. Will people lose part of their own creative control? To me, studying AI in entertainment is a way to see both its amazing power and its possible risks for the future.

Netflix uses AI to recommend what I might like next. It studies my viewing history, search, time of day, and even how long I hover on a title. The tech behind it includes machine learning, deep learning, and collaborative filtering that learn patterns from many users. This saves me time and increases the chance I actually finish a show. But there are limits: the “cold-start” problem for new users or new titles, filter bubbles, and opacity about why a pick shows up. I enjoy it because it feels personal, but I also want variety so I don’t get stuck in one lane (Gómez-Uribe & Hunt, 2015).

Electronic Arts AI in games

Electronic Arts uses AI to make games feel more alive. Machine learning, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning help non-player characters move and react in smarter ways, and guide procedural content so levels adapt to players. AI tools also speed testing and animation, which can cut repetitive work. The upside is immersion: enemies learn, worlds look and sound more natural. Challenges include compute cost, weird edge-case behaviors, and keeping balance so the game stays fun (not too hard or too easy). I’m into this because smarter AI makes every run feel fresh, but I still want clear human art direction (Electronic Arts, n.d.).

Mureka AI music generation

Mureka is a website and AI platform that composes original songs using machine learning and generative models. It trains on large music sets to learn patterns, then generates melodies, harmonies, and vocals. This lowers the barrier to composing and speeds up drafts, so beginners can make songs. But there are limits: emotional depth can feel thin, ownership rules are still unclear, and outputs may sound too close to training styles. I like it because I love music and want to see how human edits and AI co-write. Its potential is big for creators, if we keep a strong human voice (Skywork AI, 2025).

Future Trends and Ethical Considerations

The future of AI in entertainment will be about more connection between people and technology. Many companies already use AI to help make stories, design music, and build digital actors. I think soon AI will not only follow human ideas, but also give creative suggestions that surprise us. Movies could change scenes based on people’s reactions, and music could change mood to fit what we feel. It will make entertainment very personal. But at the same time, it also brings problems. If AI learns from millions of songs or images made by real artists, who owns the new work? It can copy a style too close, and the original artist may not get credit or money (Hamed & Bhatta, 2025). Also, the system may not tell what data it uses. Artists ask for transparency because they want to know if their art helped train these models (Lovato et al., 2024). Another concern is jobs. When AI can write, sing, or draw, some creators may lose work. I believe we still need human touch in art, because emotion and life experience are things AI does not have. In the future, I hope AI and humans can work together fairly. AI should help ideas grow, not replace the people who make them. Good rules, honesty, and respect will keep art human while letting technology do its part.

When I did my research, I found out that AI already plays a big part in the entertainment world. It was really interesting to see how it helps people make music, games, and movies. I also found that AI can make new ideas very fast, but it still needs human feelings and creativity. One hard thing for me was to find real sources that were not just simple news. I fixed that by reading research papers and some trusted websites. After learning this topic, I understand AI more. It is not just a work tool, but something that changes how people create and enjoy art.
