Many immigrants, especially from Venezuela, are thinking about leaving the U.S. because they are scared of being deported. The government is telling them to “self-deport” or leave on their own. Some, like Cristian and Jesús in Denver, have worked hard but would instead leave than be sent back by force. Denver has welcomed many immigrants, but newer arrivals feel unsafe. Families who have been here longer stay, but others leave in cities like Chicago and Springfield, Ohio.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/briefing/the-self-deporters.html?searchResultPosition=1

South Korea's largest wildfires on record blazed through the country’s southeast for a seventh day, with firefighters, soldiers and heritage workers racing to evacuate people and save ancient treasures from the encroaching flames. 37,000 people had no choice but to evacuate their homes as the fire led 27 people dead. 88,000 acres of land, the biggest on record in South Korea, according to the Interior Ministry. The largest blaze in Euiseong County was only about halfway contained on Thursday. Rescue crews were also focusing on saving as many relics and heritage buildings as possible after two 1,000-year-old Buddhist temples burned to the ground. Around two dozen buildings, trees, statues and other things with national heritage status have been lost to the flames so far.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/world/asia/south-korea-wildfires-heritage.html

This highlights the complex relationship between global politics and everyday life, showing how sporting events can provide a platform for collaboration despite political disagreements, a stark contrast to the heightened tension observed in other major US sporting events since Trump's election.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2025/03/28/world-figure-skating-championships-trump-foreign-policy/82658641007/

With JD Vance moving, not only is our security at risk, but Europe is MAD, with the Danish prime minister saying that JD Vance moving is "unacceptable pressure", and it's putting America's reliability under doubt. and all of this is happening because JD Vance states that he didn't want his wife (that was moving to Greenland in the first place) to “have all that fun by herself”. JD Vance, our vice president, is leaving us for some fun.
Trump signs order to begin dismantling of US education department

Donald Trump has signed an executive order that starts the process of eliminating the federal Department of Education (DoE). He believes this is the right thing to do and wants the department to be shut down as soon as possible. However, most experts say that completely getting rid of the department would require approval from Congress. The DoE is responsible for managing federal student loans for college students and providing support for low-income and disabled students. In the U.S., schools mainly get their funding from state governments, and only about 13% of the money for primary and secondary schools comes from the federal government. The White House claims that dismantling the department will help improve student test scores and save money, but critics, including many Democrats, argue that this move would hurt the most vulnerable students.

On March 27, 2025, it was stated that around 300 college students were removed and put into detention centers for simply walking around their campus. The main goal that Trump had claimed to do with immigrants was to remove CRIMINAL immigrants, and he is ultimately going off track. Any immigrant that is walking around or even walking around their school will get trapped. This country is supposed to be about our great education and justice, but we are getting none of that and we are being neglected in education simply, which would greatly help the country out more but because Trump just doesn't want immigrants in his country Knowing that innocent immigrants is what truly makes this country a better place.

Republicans who control Congress have made little official effort to challenge or scrutinize the actions of President Trump and Elon Musk as they move forward with a swift and aggressive bid to slash government. It comes to cuts that affect their districts and states, some have stepped up their attempts to push back privately, even as they publicly cheer the broader drive to overhaul what they call a “bloated” bureaucracy. The trend underscores a distinct shift in how Congress is operating in Mr. Trump’s second term. Because Republican lawmakers have largely. They are instead relying on individual relationships to insulate themselves and their constituents from the adverse impact of his actions.

Marco Rubio says US revoked at least 300 foreign students' visas

In the beginning we learn about how Trump has revoked students' visas due to protest. Students have protested for Palestine, and this has made Trump take action towards these protesters by revoking their visa. This has shown Trump has taken his immigration and foreign situation seriously. A student, Rumeysa Ozturk, was taken by officials wearing black. This moment went viral, and many spoke against Rubio, claiming for the reasons of the students taking. This has led to Rubio speaking on the fact that these Visas are only good for studying, but these foreign students haven’t come to study but to terrorized and do no good for the great of America. Trump has taken 400 million dollars from Columbia university funding over the fact that they weren’t able to combat student antiestism. This has made other universities get the fact that Trump has taken these protests of pro palestine to another level, and isn’t joking around. And if not secured or ready for these protesters it can lead to a fall in universities. Students in Colombia and Ms. Ozturk have gotten their visas removed and have been in talks with immigration. Trump has targeted students with legal status and has been trying to take these students to show dominance and try to stop these protests. These actions of Trump have led to mixed opinions in the country. These students have felt that what Trump and Rubio have done has violated their rights and beliefs. But Rubio thinks otherwise, saying these visas were given, and if participation in these social activist acts, it can lead to revocation in visas.

Recently, Los Angeles had a fire that made scientists worried. Scientists believe that Southern California should never have fires, or any natural disasters whatsoever. Scientists spent more time researching the causes, and found only one reasonable cause for the explanation behind the Los Angeles fire and why it even happened. They found out that climate change is rapidly rising, meaning that the weather would start to drastically shift. Scientists also say that in Europe, about 47,000 people died because of something relating to heat strokes. Climate change has a big effect on us because it could lead to many people at risk. Now since summers around the corner we have to be careful not to go out often, and bring water with you everywhere you go. We do have to be mindful about what we put in the air, and what we do because if we don't we might make the situation even worse. Scientists recommend that we have to take action now, before it's too late.

With Trump's administration bringing up the deportation efforts, tourists, foreign students, and legal immigrants are being treated to aggressive arrest tactics normally done for criminal suspects. The university was told that the student’s visa had been terminated, its president said in a late-night email to students and faculty members.

The US and China have recently started a trade war, where tariffs are constantly rising and consequences seem near. China had previously raised tariffs on the US to 84%, and in retaliation the US did so too. We can expect prices to go up, and a potentially escalating conflict between the two giants.https://apnews.com/article/china-response-us-tariffs-104-d40d497f6e07ee4163d88443cb75ab3f

Cliona Ward is a 54-year-old woman from Ireland who has lived in the U.S. with a green card for 50 years. She was stopped by immigration officials at the Seattle airport on April 21, 2025, after returning from a trip. They detained her because of old drug charges from 2007 and 2008, even though those charges were cleared in California. Now she is being held in a detention center and her case is getting attention because people think it’s unfair to treat someone like this after living in the U.S. for so long.
