LR pupils sees things on the surface only. Majority of them were not able to make any connections given a stimulus. Using questions to scaffold them helps them to see connections and this will help them to look beyond the surface and to have a wider scope for writing.

Getting pupils to interrogate the texts they read is essential in helping them to develop a full understanding of what they read. This is encouraged through getting the pupils to ask questions about what they read, saw or heard. They need to be given the platform to articulate and discuss their interpretations.

I would want to try this for composition writing. Pupils are to observe the picture and think about the situation. I would like them to wonder how the situation would be like, how the characters in their story would feel and respond. They can then use the strategy show don't tell strategy to write.
