If you want to know whether you are destined to be a success or a failure in life, you can easily find out. The test is simple and it is infallible: Are you able to save money? If not, drop out. You will lose. You may think not, but you will lose as sure as you live. The seed of success is not in you. James J. Hill's opinion about people.

My impression of James J. Hill, based on this quote, is that he's very sure of himself- he doesn't care what people think. He had to know this was going to spark hate. But he is right! If you can't save money, you can't really *live*. You can survive, sure, living paycheck to paycheck, but that's no one's idea of success. People don't like to be told they're going to fail, so he must've known they would react badly, but James J. Hill said it anyways.

I feel like he thinks that he is the perfect human. I believe that this is not entirely true but I see where he is coming from. You need to save money in order to do things in life and to make it through life. Although there are some people that never work a day in their life and still do well. There is no reason to drop out, he seems controlling also. He is so full of himself and to me at least, seems disrespectful.

He sees success as a very straightforward thing that only some people can achieve. I think he sees others as under him. Like they are obliged to work for him because he can offer them a job. He thinks that if you can not do something, or are not fit for it immediately, then it's not worth it. He sees quitting as an option, that people are worth the work. I don't like him, my impression is that he would be controlling and apathetic to others in a very rude way.

I think that James J Hill viewed people differently compared to anyone else. Since he thought that he was the "perfect person", and how he thought that he succeeded in more things than most people, and how he thought he was better than everyone else. Plus he thought the people were lazy and only chose the easy through life.

this quote makes him sound like a greedy old man attempting to keep himself rich. It looks like he knows the system and is trying to limit his competitors while giving enough good advice for people to listen to him, also the last sentence he says in the quote makes it feel like he only cares about his own success. I believe that this quote was only a small part of why he was hated.

This shows that he thinks people should give up on something after it doesn´t work out the first time. I do not like this man,he sounds selfish and rude.He comes off as controlling and bossy. He seems like the type of person who thinks just because he has money he can control people.

This quote gave me the impression of James J Hill that he is very hard-headed and straightforward. This shows that he could care less about what people think which is probably a small reason why people hated him . I think that if I were to ask him a serious question or an opinion he would be very honest. My overall impression of him is that he is kind of unhopeful and has the intentions to make people think they should give up just because he believes that money is the key to success. In the past, that may have been a better case and it still plays a part in our lives but I think success is within all people.

This quote gives me the impression that James J. Hill is a single-minded person. That there is one, and only one, way to success (which is not true). This tells me his attitude towards others and others' ways and opinions on how to succeed. Also, it seems like he is making money the utmost important thing than your own self. This quote from him also leads me to think that he might have thought that money could fix any problem, provide happiness, opportunities, etc. But in conclusion, we all know that is absolutely not true.

I think he is a person who thinks very highly of himself. He thinks people should just give up when they fail. He thinks that money is the key and in most cases, money may be the key. Because people need money for almost everything. He also seems like a person who would treat someone differently based on their social status. My overall impression of him that I got from this quote is that he is a person of high status who looks down upon those who are poorer than him and that he thinks there is only one way to be successful.

This quote tells me you can't change this mans mind. He seems to believe everything he says and never thinks he is wrong. He feels people are below him if they can't save money. Although it is true you can't succeed if you don't have money all people are equal and deserve a chance. Saying something like this there is no wonder he was the most hated man in america. Telling people to give up because they can't save money is selfish. You can really tell he doesn't care for people.

This makes me think that James J. Hill is very straightforward, and could be perceived as arrogant. The way he's being direct about how you won't be successful if you don't do what HE thinks is right. I don't agree with him if I'm being honest. Some people won't work at all and will still be labeled ¨successful¨. And others will do everything they can with what life has given them. And won't be ¨successful¨. I think being able to save money is a privilege, some people don't have enough money to put aside AND pay for their daily needs. Just because you cant doesn't mean you should drop out. I think education is success in itself. A lot of people don't get that opportunity so the fact that you made it to that point is good. I don't think James J. Hill is a very privileged and sheltered man. He doesn't understand everyone's perspectives, and he will not try to. I personally would not get along with him at all.

James J Hill's thoughts and/or opinions about people seem very narcissistic. Almost as if James J Hill feels like god with money, and if you don't have money or can't even save money, your just an annoying piece of gum on his shoe. James doesn't have faith in people who don't have money, he won't even consider giving them a chance. "You will lose", not "you might lose". James is very straightforward with his opinions, no money, no life. His idea of success is money, money, money, its really not surprising that he was one of the most hated men in America. Who would want to deal with a selfish prick like himself?

James J Hill is very straightforward he doesn't cut no corners. Which means people most likely didn't like the way that he came across to them or approached them, with certain things. I think people hated him because he didn't tell them what they wanted to heard, he told them what they needed to hear. He probably would shut people hopes down very quickly because he thinks money is key to success. Nowadays I think that success is with everybody, rather than in the past it was a better situation
