Journal made by Sahir Jais and Azizan Marzuki (2020) focusing more on e-hailing that is happening in Malaysia. They made research on how e-hailing currently happening and the future of e-hailing in Malaysia. Previously, e-hailing was introduced in 2012 when MyTeksi entered Malaysia. People said to prefer on e-hailing than traditional transportation such as taxi because of how e-hailing provides lower price than taxi and provides better vehicles. Based on the journal, it is stated how success of e-hailing in the future depends to the issues related to it. However, it is also stated that citizens are more likely to use more e-hailing in the future rather than having their own car.

One of the issues faced in Malaysia is when e-hailing is illegal
in the government. It is because e-hailing did not have suitable law for it to
operate. In December 2021, Malaysia finally had an act that clarify e-hailing
drivers as the employees in the government through Employment Act 1955. This
act will promise benefits for e-hailing drivers such as receiving same amount as
any other employees of any financial help from government.

REFERENCES:

Human Resources Director.
E- CAB HAILING: A STUDY ON CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR

Shivangi and Priyanka (2018) made a journal on a study of e-cab hailing on consumer behaviour, focused specifically in India. Based on a survey made, it is found that majority of the respondents uses e-hailing frequently by knowing the frequency of using the e-hailing application. The reason respondents choosing e-hailing is because e-hailing have the easier way to get transportation in a short period of time. Respondents also feels comfortable when using e-hailing because of the cleanliness of the car and positive behaviour from the driver.

Issue found about e-hailing is that drivers are being misbehave to the rider causing the rider to feel uncomfortable. A lot of users of e-hailing had faced bad experiences when they use e-hailing, especially for women who had experienced sexual assaults. In December 2018, it is reported in INC42 that Gurugram police had arrested four Uber drivers for robbing fifteen passengers. One of the ways to this issue is by enforcing the law so that the country itself had lesser crime when it comes about e-hailing.

REFERENCES:

Dhawan, Shivangi & Yadav, Priyanka.
Exploring the Influence of E-Hailing Applications on the Taxi Industry - form the Perspective of the Drivers

Gan, Y. et al. made a study on influence of e-hailing on taxi industry from the drivers’ perspective. In China, e-hailing came in the middle of 2015, when Shanghai Taxi Information Service Platform (STISP) launched e-hailing in the country. Existence of e-hailing will cause effects on taxi drivers, whether it is positive or negative effects. Gan, Y et al. made comparison between 2015 and 2017 on drivers’ behaviours. When e-hailing starts, uses of taxis started to increase whether it is on weekends or weekdays, especially in the night and early in the morning.

However, e-hailing could bring negative impact such as affecting the drivers’ health. It is because even if e-hailing had more flexible schedule for the drivers, drivers more focusing on working overtime and have lesser rests. It is important for the drivers to make health as their top priority so that it will not affect them in the future.

REFERENCES:
Gan, Yitong & Fan, Hongchao & Wei, Jiao & Sun, Mengqi.

Jim Kem (2022) made a report in Carlist.my on how taxi drivers should have e-hailing application, just like other e-hailing such as Grab and Uber. Taxi drivers stated in memorandum by Penyatuan Pemain Industri Pengangkutan Darat Malaysia (PPDM) on how government should help them to make an application just like how other e-hailing have their own application. Taxi drivers stated how taxi industry is being ignored because of how taxi industry did not have too much growth since other e-hailing industry came into Malaysia. Taxi drivers also should have their own application so it is easier for both drivers and passengers to have better interaction between each other, such as how the passengers will have easier way to rate the drivers.

Issue faced by taxi industry when e-hailing such as Uber just entered Malaysia. Taxi drivers started to make a statement on how e-hailing could result in high risks of security to the citizens because how e-hailing did not have any laws related to it and high charge for a single ride. Taxi drivers should beware of their actions because it not only affect their job, but also to the industry.

REFERENCES:
Jim, K.
Standardise fares of taxis and e-hailing rides, govt told

Fadli (2022) made news from MSN on issues happening in the government about fares for taxis and e-hailing rides should be standardised. Citizens had made complaints on how fares for taxis and e-hailing did not charge the same price for the same distance. Founder of Big Blue Taxi Services, Shamsubahrin Ismail stated that it is Putrajaya’s responsibility to make standardised fares. However, Wee Ka Siong, Transport Minister of Malaysia stated that e-hailing did not have any specific price for the rides. However, e-hailing enabled to charge for the passengers, which are base fares and surcharge. It is found that reason for increases in fares is because of supply and demand are unbalanced and high traffic jam during peak hours.

Due to this situation, it is recommended for government to set price ceiling for e-hailing and taxi drivers so that the drivers did not take any advantages during this problem occurred. Dr. Wee stated in a meeting with representatives of Malaysian E-Hailing Industry Workers Welfare Association that he will immediately taking action to catch whoever set the fares above the ceiling price that was set by the government (TheStar, 2022).

REFERENCES:

Gerard Gimino.
