I'm a wife, mom, daughter, friend, educator + all those other labels that complete us as busy humans!  I'm the coordinator at a K-6 school where I've worked for 31 years. I love working with children and adults. When we were introduced to the IB, I realized that this is who I am as a mom and educator. I've worked for IBEN (IB Educator's Network) for about 6 years. I enjoy helping others explore the PYP through workshops and look forward to working with all of you!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Both teacher and students have a role in assessment.  Students are a part of the process and have a vital role in looking at their learning and evaluating it.  Assessment informs both teaching and learning.  Assessment measure students progress rather than their performance in relation to others.  Reflection is encouraged.  Assessment always includes feedback.   Expectations are always clear so that students know what the learning goal is.  Young students learning is measured against individual milestones and celebrates achievement which is pertinent to them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Prek3 Blog: <br>As Preschool teachers we spend our days days in our world where  play is learning. Inquiry is an authentic way for  students to relate to, explore and understand the world around them. We are teaching students at this early formative age to become inquirers! <br>Inquiry teaches students to problem solve and supports them in achieving personal and shared goals. When students get to lead the direction of their learning they are invested and excited! We inform parents that inquiry at the preschool age includes exploring, wondering, and questioning! These are critical parts of learning! We also learn to make connections between previous learning and current learning! <br><br>What assessment  looks like in Preschool! <br>Assessment is an ongoing process of gathering and analyzing, reflecting and  acting on evidence of student learning to inform teaching. This takes place throughout our day each and every day! We assess on the go as teaching and learning is in action! It involves the gathering and analyzing of information about student learning to inform teaching practice. Effective assessment that achieves this purpose provides valuable information to understand what learning is and how to support it and is meaningful to all members of the learning community in our classroom every day! At the Preschool age supporting students to become inquirers of their own learning and effectively assessing their learning supports students to become effective self regulated learners who are actively engaged in their learning!
