         <description><![CDATA[<div>Food and beverage manufacturing is the second largest manufacturing industry in Toronto and in order to stay competitive Gay Leaf Foods uses a large amount of natural gas, electricity and water. High amounts of energy are used for the running of large machinery for long hours. Natural gas heats the milk for sterilization, even though about 30% of the heat is lost.&nbsp; Gay Leafs’ biochemical oxygen demand concentration also exceeds the legal amount. Working with Bloom, Gay Leaf Foods has reduced their usage through the usage of green chemistry. Annually, Gay Leaf Foods had rescued their usage of electricity by 158,000 kWh, their usage of natural gas by 276,000 m3, their usage of water by 14,000 by 14,000 m3, and their usage of biochemical oxygen demand by 150,000 kg.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think it is more profitable for a company to prevent pollution for occuring than dealing with the pollution after it is produced. The required expenses for preventing pollution are mainly one time things. There would be some repairs necessary but they wouldn’t be very expensive. To deal with the pollution after is has occur would be expensive as long as the manufacturers are creating pollution. In the long term, it is much cheaper to prevent pollution.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
