The Geneva Convention sets out the guidelines for the treatment of civilians and prisoners in times of war or conflict. It applies to civilians, prisoners of war, injured armed forces personnel, the wounded and the sick. Countries sign the treaty to show their support for the conditions and treatment of people during wartime, agreeing to fulfil and meet the conditions.

The document outlines the rights every human is entitled to, without change, alteration or redaction from church, state or any organisation/business. There are 30 articles in total in the document. The UN and it's member states abide by these 30 articles, but all across the world there is mistreatment and human rights abuse taking place. Without proper enforcement of the Human Rights Declaration in 3rd world countries, abuse and mistreatment continue to take place.

The European Convention on Human Rights consists of 16 Human Rights articles, 14 less than the United Nations have. The convention was in fact based off of the United Nations Universal Declaration fo Human Rights and was drafted by Winston Churchill after the second world war to help promote equality, rule of law, and democracy.

The act states that all organisation, including local and regional government, police and law enforcement agencies, and private businesses must treat people with fairness, equality and respect regardless of any race, religion, sex, gender, age and so on...
The act also protects people on the basis of freedom of thought and speech, freedom from torture and inhumane treatment, right to life, right to fail trial, right to free elections, and right to property.
