¨My family and I had heard and read about the Oregon Fever, but we weren't sure if it was true.¨ a man tells us. ¨Then one day we see our neighbors packing up all their stuff and leaving. I run out and asked them where they are going. they told me that they were going to join the Oregon Fever. Weeks later we get a letter from them telling us how Oregon is a great attraction. This gave my father the idea to leave. Three days later we were on the road. we had a long journey. We went over 2000 miles to get to the Oregon land. It was a long journey. when we arrived, there were many people here already enjoying the Oregon land. We had a really long trip. But it was worth it."

Hundreds of settlers started migrating West on the Oregon Trail, which ran from Missouri to the Oregon territory. Marcus and Narcissa Whitman were one of the first white missionaries to cross the continent to Oregon. During this, the British and the United States were in an argument over who owns the Oregon land. Glowing reports from the Whitman's of Oregon´s land began to attract other American settlers. The Oregon land is a great attraction. One man claims that the pigs there were “running about, ...round and fat, and already cooked, with knives and forks sticking in them so you can cut off a slice whenever you are hungry.” The stories of the land in the news many people to make the 1000+ journey to Oregon.

We interviewed a person who says they have lived in Oregon for most of their life. This is what they had to say. ¨It was just a few people at first.¨ he says ¨I live at the boarder of Oregon so I see everyone who comes in and goes out. One day I see a couple people walk across the boarder. within a couple hours, I see groups of people traveling in. just watched. They all came rushing in. I walked outside and stood on my front yard. I started to ask people what they were doing and most replied ´Have you not heard of the Oregon Fever?´ Others replied 'everyone is coming into Oregon these days...´¨ He told the reporters.
